LAW: Preview Reviews 2/17

Preview cards from yesterday courtesy of FFG and the Colorado Cantina Crew.

Chewbacca – Hero of Kessel

A 5/6 unit is already going to be way big at 4 cost, on a leader it would be downright ridiculous.  However Chewie has a different deploy cost than most leaders as he doesn’t require getting to a specific number of resources in play and then flipping for free, but rather he has a cost on him to actually deploy.

That cost can also be paid now with credits.  Think of a round one in which you play an Unmarked Credits and then some other one cost card.  Then round two, you have a third resource in play and one credit which means in round two a 5/6 wookiee is crashing the party and he’s showing up early.

Overall, a very interesting design space that the developers have opened up with this latest leader.  It will be interesting to see how this type of thing could be leveraged in future sets.

Krrsantan

This guy is expensive.  That’s the downside.

The upside is that he is doing a bunch as soon as he hits the board.  The combination of Ambush and Overwhelm means he is almost certainly taking out an opponent’s unit and likely getting at least some damage on their base as well.

Broken Horn

This ship has a combination of very nice When Played effects.

Fewer cards than your opponent?  Cool, draw one.
Fewer resources than your opponent?  Fantastic, add one.

This is a nice addition to support the new Chewbacca leader since his ability means you are likely to be down on resources.  Cham Syndulla of course could be used similarly with the advantage of not locking into that second aspect, but also without the draw capability and being a ground unit.
