LAW: Preview Reviews 1/29
Previews from yesterday courtesy of FFG and KTOD.
BT-1

A 2 cost 2/4 unit is already decent. When that unit has the ability to take out a 3 hit point unit on attack makes it a pretty solid early game threat. It can also use the point of damage to ping off a shield before taking out a unit. Obviously the ping damage can be separated out from the attack target as well.
Combo with the new Aphra unit to get more cards in the discard pile and bring back underworld traited cards on her attack.
0-0-0

BT-1 needs his buddy and there should be synergy. Well, here he is. FFG designers crushed it on the synergy of these two units by having them pair super nicely together and also the new Aphra unit.
Fueling the discard pile helps power up 0-0-0. He basically attacks the opponent’s base for 5 points if there is a card in the discard pile to cycle. Bonus points for “each enemy base” if you are a Twin Suns aficionado.
“He’s uncommon so you know he’s good” – Matty (KTOD)
Really both 0-0-0 and BT-1 could have at least been rare cards and nobody would have batted an eye.
Shadow of Stygeon Prime

This event is tagged as a “condition”. It could just be tagged as “win condition”.
Locking down an opponent’s unit is generally good. Having that unit then ping them each regroup phase is also pretty cool.
Sebulba

Could Sebulbna be the aggro leader we’re all waiting for to take Sabine’s place once she rotates out? He’s got some of the pieces in place to maybe make a run at the aggro queen. He guarantees that you can fully utilize Vult Skerris’s Defender, which is one of the best 3-cost units in the game when it can be played with the shield. The recently revealed 0-0-0 also synergizes fantastically with him. And, of course, Sebulba’s Podracer could be a good alternative to 0-0-0.
This is on top of all the great Red Villain cards, like HK-47, BT-1, Interrogation Droid plus many others, the last 2 of which are new cards. This type of deck had trouble taking shape in the past because the synergy just wasn’t there like it was with Sabine & Rebels. We probably need a few more pieces that work well together for him to dominate like Sabine did at times, but the potential is there, and it looks like a fun deck to play.
On the other hand, without playing Vult Skerris’s Defender it feels like there isn’t enough firepower to take advantage of the discard, so he may be soft locked into always playing a yellow base. Fortunately, Aggression Cunning Villain has some great looking cards.
So, will Sebulba take his place as the aggro king, or will we be let down by yet another potential aggro leader? Sebulba, you’re our only hope.
Sebulba’s Podracer

Sebulba’s Podracer seems to be only playable in a Sebulba deck. Even then, its stats are fairly weak for a 3-cost ground unit. It dies to most other 3-cost units you would expect to see and many 2-cost units, so it doesn’t seem likely to get the second attack off very often. You’d like to see a card like this having a 3/4 stat line so it can survive often enough to get the second attack. The ability is great with Sebulba leader, but the stats will probably hold it back.
