Ashes of the Empire is here finally. While the pre-sale listings for the showcases are a bit wonky, it’s of course fun to have some new cards to talk about.

Set Averages

Ashes of the Empire has opened up strong. This is the highest we’ve seen a showcase average for a set open up not counting the SOR Luke and Vader which due to the initial scarcity had a near $500 average.

It is of course 99.99999% unlikely that ASH can maintain this level of pricing average for the showcase leaders. We expect the standard initial drop coming over the next two weeks. The question really just becomes to what level will it drop? Will it stabilize at a similar plateau to A Lawless Time, or will it go down near the 2025 sets?

Current Top 10

The top ten is of course all out of whack this week. Basically 0% chance that Luke Skywalker – I Can Save Him will stay as high as the one listing currently has him. It’s unlikely that he even stays above half that amount.

We do hope that enough of the ASH showcases are playable enough that we get a decent number upwards of $250 when things all settle in.

Winners and Losers

Cad Bane – He Who Needs No Introduction is the top winner this week. Most prices from pre-ASH sets have been relatively stable, so a bump upwards of $10 is actually decent at this point.

Last week Director Krennic – Amidst My Achievement was near the winner side just from having sold through some lower end listings. Well that’s flipped back of course and now we’re looking at him in a more reasonable range with one listing below the prior low one which is still available if you feel like spending more for some reason.

“The Finn Zone”

The cards in this part of the list have left the meta. They are on a journey to a mysterious realm of disappointment, like a bad Twilight Zone episode where every card is just… meh. This is now officially where all disappointing Star Wars: Unlimited showcase cards go to live in eternal mediocrity. If a card dips below Finn in value, it has entered The Finn Zone, a place where underwhelming abilities and missed potential reign supreme.

Grand Inquisitor – Stories Travel Quickly retains the “top” spot for a fourth week. A couple more and at least he will break his personal record of six weeks.

The total zone members is back up to double digits again. We’re looking at a nice round 10 now, still from only two sets not counting Finn himself.

One other interesting note is that the total leaders available in showcase form is now up to 144. That means the percentage of leaders in the zone changes mathematically going forward. The other tidbit about this is that 10/144 is not really even close to the lowest number by percentage at 6.9%. That makes this week only the 4th lowest number of zone members by percentage.

As always, keep in mind that all showcase cards are relatively low volume in sales when compared to Legendary and Rare cards. A single listing and sale could skew some of this data. TCGPlayer tries to compensate for this by listing a “Market Price” in addition to the actual price of available listings.
