LAW: Preview Reviews 2/7
Preview cards from yesterday* courtesy of FFG and Ice Cave Radio.
*Note: The leader revealed yesterday was Saw Gerrera who was kind of already revealed on Wednesday via link in an official site article, Lawless Insights. Unsure if this was intentional or not. At least yesterday we did get some Command Aggression cards with no hero or villainy aspects, so Saw may have some more toys to play with now.
Asajj Ventress

Very expensive cost for a 3/3 unit.
Very powerful When Played effect.
Is the later worth the former?
Remains to be seen. Right now we’d say not worth it most likely simply because there are not a ton of great options for the When Played piece to really hit effectively. The Asajj unit from Legends of the Force is interesting but also sits at 5 cost. Hunting Assassin Droid may not be terrible. Expendable Mercenary or Callous Bounty Hunter? The options seem to go downhill pretty quickly.
On the plus side, every future set that contains a Bounty Hunter tagged unit in either Command or Aggression aspects will need a second look just to see if it benefits additionally from this new Asajj unit.
Honor-Bound Partisan

A 2/2 unit for 2 cost almost seems quaint now that we get solid 2/4 units at the same cost. This means that the additional impacts of the card need to push it over the top.
The When Played doing a damage to a base is nice, but not a staggering effect. The second part may be more impactful as during round two running this unit into something to get it defeated will feel like a temporary ramp allowing for a 4 cost unit to be played.
Defiant Hammerhead

Given that this is a capital ship, Piett decks may like it simply for the stats.
One Way Out would be a fun combo with this card. Another +1 to attack power and it’s rolling into some unit as an 11/6 with Overwhelm. Of course the new Saw leader does a similar effect with +2/+0 and not requiring an additional card. We hear that 12/6 units with Overwhelm for 6 cost might be decent.
Highsinger

Triggering both pieces of this card results in 6/4 worth of stats for 3 cost. It could be a cool Energy Conversion Lab target in eternal. An interesting play line could be a round one Chopper into a round two with Highsinger played via ECL and then double buff chopper.
