Lawless Time Art

Porg Depot does not currently have any official art critics on staff. Yes, we’ve done some showcase art Tier Lists and we plan to continue doing that as sets are released. Those are a bit tongue in cheek and meant as satire.

What we can say from the layman’s art critic point of view is that the vast majority of the pieces released so far for A Lawless Time are nothing short of awesome.

This rancor art is incredible. Easily the best we’ve seen in SWU so far for this type of creature. The art on this card alone will make people want to go to weekly events.

Regardless of what you think of the show The Acolyte, this image of Qimir, aka Darth Jason, is perfect. Completely captures the character in fantastic detail right down to the smiling teeth, the repaired cracks in the helmet, the red glow reflected on the rest of the character… Amazing.

Say what you will about The Phantom Menace, the pod racing scene was fun. Whether a tribute to Ben-Hur’s chariot race or just a futuristic Formula One event, the race itself is tremendously fun to watch visually and has some of the best sound design of modern movies with the various engine rumbles. This picture of Sebulba pulls us right into that scene and easily captures the speed and thrill of a high speed race.

Regardless of how Solo did at the box office, the art here for Enfys Nest is solid. With her standing in front of a handful of her band of pirates it sure looks like we’ll see this character as a leader in the upcoming set.

Speaking of leaders, Sabine Wren – Galvanized Revolutionary will be rotating out of the Premier format. This amazing burst of color could easily be a new leader based on the same character.

The Prestige cards from A Lawless Time also seem to pop. Will be interesting to see what happens with them value wise as the level one versions make their way to standard booster packs.

This one is very clearly a similar style to the prestige cards’ background. Very happy that our little R2 unit will be getting a kick ass treatment.
…Now just show me the R2 leader and equally awesome showcase art for him and we’ll really be rolling.

Keep It Coming

Looking forward to seeing more of the artwork from the upcoming set. So far there are some real bangers. Fingers crossed that the game text on these cards is just as good, and from what we’ve seen so far in the limited previews has given us some hope.

Keep the good stuff coming SWU artists!!!
