To Infinity and Beyond
After the recent reveal from FFG and some furious scribbling, the porgs in PorgDepot’s top-secret analytics division have done it. They’ve crunched the numbers, pecked at the spreadsheets, and finally unlocked what no one thought possible: a new infinite loop in Star Wars Unlimited.
Infinite Loop Explained
The combo involves the Grand Inquisitor, Darth Traya, and The Tragedy of Plagueis.

- Grand Inquisitor as the leader with some blue aspect base.
- 5 resource round, play Darth Traya played with an aspect penalty.
- 6 resource round, play The Tragedy of Plagueis on Traya.
- Attack with Traya.
- Use Grand Inquisitor’s leader side ability to ready Traya.
- Attack with Traya and use her to ready Grand Inquisitor.
- Repeat forever because Traya will never get defeated due to the damage from the Grand Inquisitor readying her.

How to Stop It
Preventing this combo from triggering might be pretty easy. The combo is extremely telegraphed and your opponent will have multiple actions over a couple of rounds to respond.
- Before Tragedy is played, Darth Traya will be defeatable by damage.
- She is also completely susceptible to removal cards such as Power of the Dark Side, Takedown, and Waylay even after the Tragedy has been played.
- Cards that prevent readying such as No Good to Me Dead, and Frozen in Carbonite also stop the combo in its tracks.
- Force Lightning doesn’t even need to kill Darth Traya, but simply removes her ability to ready the Grand Inquisitor.
- If your opponent is really desperate, they can even add a beneficial upgrade to Darth Traya that causes Darth Traya’s power to exceed three so that she can’t be the target of the Grand Inquisitor’s ability such as Entrenched or even a lightsaber.
What Now?
There have previously been some very explosive combos in SWU including the notorious DJ/Tech combo and Triple Dark Raid/War Juggernaut with Jango as your leader. Those each led to card suspensions. There are also some very powerful combos that, while not suspended currently, have had a great impact on the meta. However, none of those past combos have ever created an infinite loop that basically guarantees the win if you can pull it off.
This combo may not need to receive the ban hammer. Unlike some of the other powerful combos, this one will leave the opponent many opportunities and many ways to interrupt it before it cascades into that infinite string of attacks.
Wrap Up
Was this combo intentionally made by the designers? Unknown at this point. It does seem a little like putting a porg in charge of the Death Star. Sure it wasn’t in the plan, but now we’ve got a potentially unstoppable poultry-powered beam of doom.
If you’re looking to make your opponents sigh dramatically, shuffle this combo into your deck.
