JTL Porg Values Part Two

Earlier this month as the Jump to Lightspeed spoilers started Porg Depot launched our Porg Value Calculator (aka The Porgulator). This tool may be useful to you in comparing different units in the game and helping to evaluate new cards as they are released.

We used this on a few of the spoilers already, so let’s take a look at some of the new cards that have been released over the last week.

BB-8

Calculated Porg Value = 1.5 (3.0 with his ability)

We finally have BB-8 in Star Wars Unlimited and he did not disappoint! Stats of 1/4 on the ground for a cost of only 1 is amazing, as we already know from BB’s cousin R2. On top of that, he has the flexibility of being a pilot and that ability to ready ANY resistance unit for only 2 is incredible. Not including his ability to ready a unit, he’s already worth 1.5 porgs. If you are able to use that, he easily hits a value of 3 porgs, if not more! I see this guy ‘rolling’ into plenty of decks come Match.

BoShek

Calculated Porg Value = 0.5 (2.5 if you can draw 2)

In the right deck, I’m looking at you Han 3, BoShek can be an absolute monster! His stats aren’t going to blow anyone away, but they are perfectly respectable, with the Pilot flexibility. His ability when played as a Pilot could be a game-changer though. We haven’t seen a card that draws 2 for a cost of 2. If you can reliably draw those 2 cards then this guy is a easy 3-of in your deck!

Captain Tarkin

Calculated Porg Value = 0.0 Min

Cards like Captain Tarkin can be hard to evaluate since it can change throughout the game. At a minimum he’s a break-even porg value since 3-cost for a 2/5 is even. His value could easily increase by 0.5 porgs for every vehicle you have on the board. There could easily be points in a game where he’s bringing 2 or 3 porgs to the table. Don’t worry, they are still alive. Roast porgs don’t count towards your porg value.

Black Squadron Scout Wing

Calculated Porg Value = -0.5 with good potential

Sometimes we need to play with cards that may have negative porg values because of the potential porgs they can generate from other cards. The Scout Wing’s stats are a drop below average, but the ability to cheat an action when upgrading it is very good. One big issue with upgrades and pilots is that your opponent gets a chance to deal with it before you can take advantage of it. So, while the Scout Wing may not have a lot of value himself, he adds a lot of value to other cards you may play on it. This ship is also a beast with BB-8 where you can attack and then ready it if you order your actions correctly.

Give it a try yourselves with some of the other cards we’ve seen and let us know what Porg Value you give them. We love to hear what you come up with!
