Showcase Prices Dec 23, 2024

An overall down week for showcases. Generally this still makes sense as more and more product is opened, the Twilight meta starts to settle, and we are thick in the holiday season.

** Data gathered from TCGPlayer at ~8:30am EST. Full data set here.

All Showcase Trend

A set of one of each showcase across all three sets dropped in value by 2.79%. This marked the third week in a row that there was a drop. This pricing along with the rest of the data that follows is based on the TCGPlayer.com lowest listed price currently available for purchase.

Current Top 10

Anakin was the biggest winner last week and is now correcting back the other way dropping down a spot in the top ten.

Cad Bane got a decent bump this week from a couple of sales. Not quite to the $300 mark he hit a few weeks ago. This is almost certainly due to his inclusion as one of the decks to beat in the Twilight meta when paired with Tarkintown.

Han Solo, Audacious Smuggler, aka Han 1 managed to stay at the exact same prince point even with some sales. This is something that doesn’t seem to happen often as even a single sale in a low volume card like a showcase can greatly alter the pricing.

Winners and Losers

Biggest upwards move of the week went to Cad Bane both in dollar gain and percentage gain. Pulling in both of those in the same week when you are near the top of the price list is no easy feat.

Anakin took the biggest tumble this week. This is mainly from additional listing undercutting the prior lowest price. He’s generally been selling in the $300 to $350 range over the last couple of weeks and the prior mark was inflated just due to sales pulling out the bottom end of the actual listings available.

Race to the Bottom

Jyn Erso has been dethroned. Nute Gunray has taken over the title of cheapest showcase. Jyn’s ability to hold her price while Nute dropped $10 due to additional listings did the trick. Also likely is that the people looking for cheap Jyn Erso cards scooped them up in the $60-69 range already a few weeks ago.

Additional Notes and Comments

Keep in mind that all showcase cards are relatively low volume in sales when compared to Legendary and Rare cards. A single listing and sale could skew some of this data. TCGPlayer tries to compensate for this by listing a “Market Price” in addition to the actual price of available listings. The TCG site refers to this as “This price point is compiled from recent sales completed on TCGplayer.com. TCG Market Price is updated as transactions complete and reflects the best suggested retail price of a product.”
