Showcase Pricing Dec 2, 2024

The Twilight of the Republic meta has been taking form over the last few weeks. We are seeing the showcase prices adjust accordingly.

** Data gathered from TCGPlayer at ~7:30am EST. Full data set here.

Current Top 10

Jango Fett pulled back a bit this week. Only two sales at $399 and $390. Seems like a little lessening of demand after his initial boost from the events of 2+ weeks ago as the set three meta began to adjust to the Boba suspension.

Chancellor Palpatine was last week’s only top ten gainer. This week tells a different story as he’s had the largest drop of the top ten both by dollar amount and percentage change over the prior week. With eight sales on TCGPlayer this drop is on relatively high volume for a showcase leader.

Many other adjustments to the top ten list. Sabine and Han1 both dropped off the list. Leia took a big slide from fifth down to ninth. Newcomers on the top of the list are Cad Bane and Maul.

Cad Bane made a massive move over the past week. Eight sales all between $192 and $220. The lowest list is now up at the $300 mark. The gain of $101 over last week’s lowest listed price is the biggest that Porg Depot has seen since our tracking began a few weeks ago.

Winners and Losers

Showcases that gained on the week are mostly representative of the evolving Twilight of the Republic meta. Bossk Blue remains playable boosting that one up, while Anakin and Obi-Wan showing up in force at a few events are propelling those higher.

On the losing end, Chancellor Palpatine could be getting some realization of being difficult to build a deck around. Leia has never been a meta mainstay and is still potentially high. Jango’s inclusion on this part of the list is likely a market correction due to his initial inflation as a replacement for Boba.

Race to the Bottom

Jyn Erso continues to “lead” in the race to the bottom. Four sales over the week all right around the $70 mark may have demonstrated the approximate floor for a showcase leader. The current listings have also greatly increased from 24 to 34 probably due to Spark of the Rebellion packs being available again.

Additional Notes and Comments

Keep in mind that all showcase cards are relatively low volume in sales when compared to Legendary and Rare cards. A single listing and sale could skew some of this data. TCGPlayer tries to compensate for this by listing a “Market Price” in addition to the actual price of available listings. The TCG site refers to this as “This price point is compiled from recent sales completed on TCGplayer.com. TCG Market Price is updated as transactions complete and reflects the best suggested retail price of a product.”
